Ishi, a series of intervened photographs by Mexican artist Sumie García, explores the process of sacralization of things through rites. Actions that have historically served to build bridges between the tangible and the intangible, or between presence and absence. The artist takes as inspiration a Shinto ritual practice that consists of circling sacred elements with a string - where it is thought that spirits inhabit - to delimit the earthly of the divine. Within these elements, which are usually found in nature, the rocks that receive the rays of sunrise and sunset hold a special place.
