Drawing is the tool that shapes María García Ibáñez's work, a designer born in Spain, serving as the starting point for her artistic research. Through this discipline, she delves into other fields such as archaeology, geology, anatomy, as well as craft processes like ceramics and textiles.
Her recent work explores themes related to the construction of landscape and territorial appropriation, creating a narrative about nomadism and the concept of home. This allows her to reflect on the origins and transformations of space.
She has been part of cultural projects and has exhibited both solo and collectively in cities such as Hong Kong, Seoul, Mexico City, Madrid, Valencia, Zurich, and Jakarta. Among her most recent awards is the Basu Foundation residency in Kolkata (India) in 2018, as well as the Acquisition Award from the DKV Collection in 2017, presented at the Drawing Room in Madrid.
