With a practice that includes drawing, photography and sculpture. Amaya explores the notions of subjectivity and the self. The artist's formative years in northern Mexico deeply influence her work, being it totally personal and quietly political. At the heart of Amaya's practice is a deep concern for process and materials, with each series seeking a formal solution. Informed by minimalism, she explores issues related to language and the deterioration of the landscape.
Karian Amaya has a BA from the University of Guadalajara and studied MixedMedia at The Art Students League of New York. Her work has been exhibited in Mexico, the United States and Europe.
