Ling Ling, Mexico City By Ángulo Cero – May 5, 2024

Ling Ling Mexico City is a high‑concept Asian fusion restaurant that opened in late 2021 on the 56th floor of a Reforma Avenue skyscraper. Designed by Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos with Fernanda Patiño as Interiors Director, the central triple‑height atrium—framed by a colonnaded portico and lush tropical planting—evokes a “jungle in the clouds,” offering panoramic 270° city views through floor‑to‑ceiling glass.

Inside, a vaulted wooden pavilion employs traditional stereotomy joinery, while a palette of warm vegetal tones, custom furnishings, and a timber logo screen blur interior and exterior. Behind the sushi bar, a continuous sequence of eleven non‑perforated GÉNESIS ceramic sculptures by Abel Zavala provides a subtle yet commanding backdrop. Each piece, handcrafted in high‑temperature clay and glazed in gray, ochre, and orange, draws on Zavala’s exploration of organic shapes and color fields.

Mounted directly to the wall, the compositions introduce depth via gentle relief and reflective surfaces, harmonizing with textured plaster, warm wood, and verdant greenery to reinforce the restaurant’s immersive fusion of Asian cuisine and Mexican architectural motifs.
