Yanira López
Yanira López (YaLo) is a Cuban multidisciplinary artist. Her upbringing in the Caribbean, along with her personal experience as a political refugee, has deeply shaped her interest in themes such as identity, belonging, and memory. She currently lives and works in Miami, Florida.
Her most recent series, The Walls I Embrace, the Floors I Walk On, is inspired by tiled floors and walls as architectural elements found in buildings across Havana, Miami, and Mexico City. This body of work serves as a personal archive that seeks to preserve both individual and collective memory of spaces that may no longer exist, while delving into the impact of power structures and gentrification on the cities we inhabit.
