TÓTEC is a Mexican design studio founded by Leonardo Díaz and Javier Marín, in collaboration with artisans from various regions of the country. Their mission is to create unique, timeless pieces that merge design, traditional techniques, and sustainable materials. Each piece is crafted with patience and attention to detail, using environmentally friendly materials that have a positive impact on the environment.
The studio aims to create distinctive, durable, and beautiful works, but most importantly, socially and environmentally responsible. TÓTEC is inspired by the God Xipe Tótec, a symbol of regeneration in ancient culture, reflecting renewal in both nature and the human being.
The grasshopper, believed in ancient times to have the ability to jump between times (past, present, and future), inspires TÓTEC’s creative process. By incorporating ancient artisanal techniques into contemporary designs, the studio creates objects that transcend time and endure into the future.
