Carlos Vielma was born in Saltillo, Mexico, in 1982. A visual artist with a degree in Architecture from the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila, he works with painting, video, and installation, addressing themes such as the border and longing through landscape. His work explores the tensions between geography, space, and identity, and has been recognized in various platforms and biennales.
Vielma has won the Nómada National Biennale and received the Young Creators Grant from FONCA. His career has been enriched by artistic residencies at institutions such as the Banff Centre in Canada, the National University of Colombia in Bogotá, and Casa Wabi in Mexico. He has been selected for multiple editions of the ACME Salon and biennials in both Mexico and the United States. He is currently a member of the National System of Art Creators and resides in Mexico City, where he continues to develop his work.
