Andrés Souto Vilarós is an architect, artist, and professor whose work is driven by architectural research, focusing on self-construction, popular culture, and how it interprets official architectural forms.
His work draws inspiration from masonry culture and examines new relationships between self-builders, the industry, and materials, reflecting on how knowledge and intuition connect with the collective unconscious.
In 2015, he was awarded the Abraaj - RCA Innovation Scholarship to pursue his master's studies in London, and in 2017, he received the SOM Foundation Fellowship Award for his project La Estética de la Esperanza, presented at the Royal College of Art. His work has been exhibited in places such as the Menier Gallery (UK), the Royal Institute of British Architects (UK), The Architecture Centre in Bristol (UK), and Galería CC187 (Mexico). He currently leads mUcHo estudio/taller, a multidisciplinary practice in architecture, art, and research, and is a professor at the Universidad Iberoamericana.
