After ten years of working side by side, in 2019, 1050 Grados became a cooperative that brings together artisans from more than seven communities in Oaxaca, Puebla, and Chiapas.
United by their love for clay and a desire to share its benefits with the world, they are committed to building a prosperous future for their families and communities through their craft, which is deeply rooted in history. Their work is expressed through simple and elegant design pieces created in collaboration, bridging the rural and indigenous world with urban modernity, and combining the wisdom of tradition with the dynamism of innovation.1050 Grados is part of Innovating the Tradition, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the tradition of pottery.
Their focus is on creating socially engaged and participatory design within a solidarity economy, supporting and sharing with others to promote cultural development, and fostering personal and community transformation through the mastery of their craft.
