Water Fossil Rug by Jose Maria balmaceda for Ángulo Cero_Photo by Jose Margaleff

Ángulo Cero is delighted to present "De Conquistas" an exhibition by Mexican textile designer José María Balmaceda.

It is only when we situate ourselves far from the known, unprotected from that which gives us certainty when possibilities unfold in front of us. And it is there, in the darkness, when the self finds itself with its fears, demons, and hopes.

The process was not simple. Balmaceda faced monsters that had remained silent for a long time inside him. Irregular and asphyxiating bugs that as they grow, they leave more significant voids. Standing in front of them, with nothing to lose, he confronts these monsters with the sensibility that characterizes him. He deconstructs, "hunts," dismembers, fossilizes them only to understand the logic of those voids.

The resulting pieces are the trace of that conquered. The ruins of the emptiness, the trophies of the hunter, the inert hints of the defeated monsters.

Celebrate the launch of For Generations to Come

Official Event Design Route, Design Week Mexico

Opening October 11th 19:00

Ángulo Cero is thrilled to present the launch of the first collection of  For Generations to Come (FGTC) a project by Puerto Rican designer Michelle Gratacós-Arill. Early in 2017, Michelle moved to Mexico City to establish relationships with the local design scene and study the resources of industrial and artisanal production available in the country. That is how the first collection of FGTC was born. An array of metal planters and rugs made in collaboration with Mexican graphic designer Tania Zaldívar.

On the occasion of the launch and this year´s edition of Design Week Mexico, the gallery presents an installation of her metal designs that explore new ways of use of such material. The installation will be accompanied by a collection of limited edition rugs that represent the philosophy of the brand. FGTC is based on honesty and a commitment to a design philosophy grounded on the creation of durable and non-disposable objects that invite the user to play, to be creative and to create living spaces surrounded by imagination and life.
