Celebrate the launch of For Generations to Come

Official Event Design Route, Design Week Mexico

Opening October 11th 19:00

Ángulo Cero is thrilled to present the launch of the first collection of  For Generations to Come (FGTC) a project by Puerto Rican designer Michelle Gratacós-Arill. Early in 2017, Michelle moved to Mexico City to establish relationships with the local design scene and study the resources of industrial and artisanal production available in the country. That is how the first collection of FGTC was born. An array of metal planters and rugs made in collaboration with Mexican graphic designer Tania Zaldívar.

On the occasion of the launch and this year´s edition of Design Week Mexico, the gallery presents an installation of her metal designs that explore new ways of use of such material. The installation will be accompanied by a collection of limited edition rugs that represent the philosophy of the brand. FGTC is based on honesty and a commitment to a design philosophy grounded on the creation of durable and non-disposable objects that invite the user to play, to be creative and to create living spaces surrounded by imagination and life.

Open Ends

09 august 2018

The pieces that comprise the group exhibition, Open Ends, work together to create a stage of multiple possibilities through their forms. Though it may not seem so at first, these objects are never finished, never defined—and their radical beauty lies in this very material and formal open-endedness that leaves loose ends, confuses beginnings with endings, and proposes multiple versions of the same representation.

Provoking each other to enter into dialogue in fortuitous ways, each work reveals in its turn glimpses into its creative process, its limits, and its scope.

Thus, Open Ends invites you to take an open tour, to be complicit with the object, and to receive the readings and approximations—however many they may be—that it lets loose.

Castillos_Panorámica_A0_Exhibition View

Ángulo Cero is pleased to present Castillos, the first solo exhibition of the Mexican design group Cooperativa Panorámica.

After a deep analysis and experimentation with the pyrotechnical tradition of Tultitlán, Cooperativa Panorámica shows a new collection that reinterprets the character of the Mexican fiesta.

Taking the ephemeral manufacture of toritos and castillos as starting point, they use design as a means of exploration to emphasize the deepest aspects of this practice.

The exercise resulted in a series of vessels inspired by the construction of these structures, exploring the negative space and incorporating the metal, instead of bamboo and hemp, the original materials. By contrasting concepts such as the ephemeral and the imperishable, the useful and the non-functional, the void and the matter, they create new readings and approaches to the discipline of design as well as to a centenary practice in the country.

The collection is a result of a research process commissioned exclusively by Ángulo Cero gallery. It will be shown also at Zona Maco from February 7th to 11th, booth ZMD18, in Centro Banamex, Mexico City.

Tangencias is an annual program of temporary interventions to the gallery by different studies of local interior design, aiming to create new approaches to the contemporary practice, fostering reflections and questions about Mexican design.
The first edition was designed by Hana Workshop & Studio, Haws, a Mexican interior design studio that  has developed exclusive furniture and residential design since 2011, creating unique environments and promoting collectible design.
For this exhibition they created a living space, where some of their furniture are combined with unique pieces from Ad Hoc, Luminosa ™, Comité de Proyectos, Luisa Restrepo and Diego Vides Borrell, Michelle Gratacós-Arill, Nomade Atelier and Nativo, among others.
